Bolton v Everton match Preview

This game for me, is one of the worst games of the season, as I’m not one of Evertons biggest fans. Last season, in this fixture we beat them 2-0, in what was a relatively easy game for the whites. This season I think its going to be a really scrappy affair, with Bolton slight favourites being the home side. If Bolton actually bother to turn up like they did when Stoke visited the Reebok and like we did in the first forty five minutes of the West Brom game, I think we could win this without too much trouble, but I know Bolton too well to assume they’ll turn up and make it easier for themselves as they dont often do that. Everton though have a few good players in Cahill, Baines, Fellaini, Saha and Drenthe and are very capable of scoring goals. Bolton though, have shown that against teams of a similar stature are capable of scoring if they turn up. This season in my opinion we’ve turned up four times, the 3 wins of course and the loss again Man City, in which we were massively unfortunate not to take a point away. In 3 of the 4 games in which we have actually bothered to turn up we have scored 3 goals or more. (4-0 vs QPR, 3-1 vs Wigan and 5-0 vs Stoke) So we have shown that on our day we can score goals, with Klasnic finding some form and Eagles playing well for the last few weeks excluding West Brom, the current Bolton side are more than capable and should be expecting to take 3 points on Saturday.

Everton and Bolton go into this game with the exact same record over last six games, won 2 lost 4. Everton did pick up 3points in their most recent outing vs Wolves and this fired them upto 12th in the league table and no doubt gave them some much needed confidence, but i watched Everton against Newcastle and they didnt really have any stand out players for me, but when i watched them against Fulham, Drenthe Evertons new signing was outstanding and scored an absolute pearler which is no doubt going to contender for goal of the month, Saha also performed well in this fixture and it showed that when Everton do have a few stand out performers they can score goals, although the game could of been a completely different scoreline had Zamora not done a Torres. Anyway i think that Evertons best chance of creating chances is going to come from their left flank as the ever dangerous Baines and the currently outstanding Drenthe could cause Boltons defence which is statistically the worst in the league a lot of problems as if Saha gets the ball in decent position he doesnt normally miss. If Jack Rodwell is fit i think this will give Everton a massive boost as for me he’s been one of the best English players so far this season, he defends brilliantly and as we saw v Newcastle for Everton and v Sweden for England he knows how to get himself into some brilliant attacking positions, he also scored a fairly good goal vs Fulham. David Moyes has also come out recently questioning Evertons flair, i think this is entirely down to the 2 sales they made being Pienaar and of course Mikel Arteta, these two where instremental to the way Everton played in their time with Toffees and they’re not easy to replace and i think Everton are missing them greatly as they lack that creativeness that Mikel Arteta especially gave them. I think it will be a while before they can not replace them but get somebody who can provide a similar service.

Phil Neville could be ruled out through injury after picking up a hamstring injury against Newcastle and midfielder Jack Rodwell faces a late fitness test.

Another injury has struck the Bolton camp, as Joe Riley the young full back that has impressed in his first two Premier League starts has pulled his hamstring adding him to the frankly upsetting injury list at Bolton.

Overall i think that Bolton should be expecting to beat Everton on their home soil, although the dissapointing performance against West Brom could and probably has hit their confidence hard once more, and with Everton winning their last outing, its going to be very difficult for Bolton.

My prediction is 1-0 Bolton Klasnic with the goal.
